Troels Skadshauge in Politiken

In Politiken on June 6th Troels Skadhauge describes the crisis of solidarity that we are currently facing. Troels has recently finished his master’s thesis on the same topic.

Troels describes the apparent conflict between a national and a humanistic form of solidarity. The fundamental difference between the two regards the conception of which community should be the foundation of solidarity. The controversy comes down to whether solidarity is limited to a national community or whether solidarity should extend to any human being.

Currently, the two forms of solidarity undermine each other, but, according to Skadshauge, it isn’t necessarily so. A more fruitful connection could be made, and until this change is made, the fundamental crisis of solidarity is inevitable.
