Lars Tønder in P1 Eftermiddag

On August 10th Associate Professor Lars Tønder visited P1 to discuss the concept of hunger strikes and how they are used politically.

Fundamentally, Tønder lays out hunger strikes as conflicts between the sovereignty of the state and the autonomy of the individual. Hunger strikes confront this conflict and shows that both can’t be true simultaneously. Thus, hunger strikes can be a effective means of challenging the sovereignty of the state.
